Professor Obiora >Chinedu Okafor is the University Research Chair in International and Transnational Legal Studies and a tenured Full Professor of Law at the Osgoode Hall Law School of York University, Toronto, Canada. He has served as a Visiting Professor at the International Institute of Human Rights, Strasbourg, France, the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, and a number of other universities.
He is a former Chairperson and current member of the UN Human Rights Council Advisory Committee. He has also served as an expert panelist for the United Nations Working Group on People of African Descent, and as an expert consultant for bodies such as the Economic Community of West African States, the Office of the Legal Adviser of the United Nations, the British Department for International Development, and the Committee on Human Rights of the Nigerian House of Representatives.
The General Editor of the international journal, the Transnational Human Rights Review, Professor Okafor has published extensively in the fields of international and transnational law. He is the author or editor of six (6) published books, from such publishing houses as Cambridge University Press and Martinus Nijhoff; and of two other forthcoming ones. Professor Okafor has also published over seventy (80) journal articles and other scholarly writings.
