Professor John Simonson is a macroeconomist with specialization on econometric modeling for policy impact studies. He has held various academic positions at Purdue University, and the University of Wisconsin, and has served as the lead Economist in World Bank projects in Ghana, and other African countries. In the recent years he led the effort to use locally available resources to develop sustainable energy supply in Tanzania; in Wisconsin he authored numerous impact studies of direct economic benefits and attendant externalities of the university of Wisconsin within the state. He has published widely on topics as varied as sustainable energy policies, effects of income-disparities, and urban housing programs. He holds a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
