Dr. Kalu I. Kalu

Former Nigeria Federal Minister of Finance

Dr. Kalu I. Kalu has served as the chairman, board of governors, African Development Bank, and has been a member of the Development Committee of the World Bank. His public sector career in Nigeria commenced when he served as commissioner of finance and economic planning in Imo State, Nigeria. At the federal level, Kalu served as the minister of finance on two occasions, from 1985 to 1986 and 1993 to 1994. He also served as the minister of national planning from 1986 to 1987, and thereafter the minister of transport from 1987 to 1989.

He holds a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison where he was research fellow, and subsequently worked as country economist in the East Asia and Pacific Program Department of the World Bank
